This year, the SAP Innovation Awards went to Grupa Eurocash for its transformation and centralization of finance using SAP S/4 HANA Central Finance and SAP Analytics Cloud.

We are so proud to be part of this project.

There were many reasons behind the decision to switch to the most advanced solution, which is SAP S/4 HANA. Among others - growing business needs, increasing requirements for the efficiency of SAP systems, but also an attempt to organize and centralize accounting processes. When started this project over 2 years ago, we expected the task and the challenge at the same time. It was like a general cleaning, renovation and expansion in one.

The larger the company, the bigger potential risk associated with the project of changing the financial system, and in this case the change was to affect several dozen companies in the group working on several systems. Let's add to the fact that finance affects all areas of the company's operations - purchasing, sales, marketing and other functions.

These and many other factors only complicated the topic we faced together with business and PwC.

There are several possible ways to implement the SAP S/4 HANA system. "The Central Finance scenario chosen by the Eurocash Group enabled a gradual, but also very smooth implementation. Due to the fact that Central Finance works parallelly to the previously used operating systems, at the next stages of the project we had the opportunity to control and verify compliance with the assumptions. Once we made sure that everything works properly, we launched subsequent processes" – explains Marek Klapisz, ARC Consulting manager who manages the Central Finance implementation project.

Thanks to this approach, subsequent companies have been started to operate on the new SAP S/4 HANA platform efficiently, without any demurrage and complicated migrations. However, getting to this point, took some time and effort.

"Within an organization in which there are several SAP systems with a different settings - the preparation for data replication to Central Finance took over a year. The challenge was not only about the technical preparation of all systems, which was obviously not easy, but also the consultation process business partners in order to draw a "shape" of financial processes.” - adds Marek.

Further challenges are ahead of us.

The project is ongoing, and the new capabilities of S/4 HANA also bring new ideas for improvements and optimizations.
